Kodinhi is a village in Malappuram district in Kerala, India. This village is situated around 35 kilometres south of Calicut city and 30 kilometres west of the district headquarters i.e. Malappuram.
With the increasing number of twins in this village, this village has now been added to the Guinness Book of World Records for having the second highest number of twins on Earth. Yes, this is the second highest in ywins birth. The first place in this category is Igbo-Ora in Nigeria.
The story of Kodinhi Village, Kerala became popular in the year 2006 with a schoolgirl’s curiosity.Some story said that at once seven pairs of twins sharing the same bench.
Based on a mini survey it was found out that there were a total of 25 other similar pairs of twins in a school. That was really a phenomenonal survey result.Everyone was shocked with the survey result. That was the beginning of this discovery.
On an average, India have 9 twins per 1,000 births, but Kodinhi is an exception, here the twins birth rate is 45 per 1,000 births. This is one of the highest in the world.
